Elephant Hunts:
Minimum of 14 days on a Big 5 Daily Rate 1x1. As a member of CITES, Mozambique has a CITES quota for Elephant, which are classified as CITES 1. There are currently 40 elephant on quota for Mozambique. Unfortunately, because the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service does not recognize Mozambique's Elephant quota, it currently will not allow the import of Mozambican Elephant trophies. Elephant trophies hunted in Mozambique by Europeans may be imported into Europe.
Booking Procedures & Conditions:
Once you have contacted us with your hunting enquiry, booking can take place via your agent or directly with John X Safaris. Hunts vary in length with a minimum of 7 days to a maximum of 21 days, with the recommended being 10 days. All hunts are done in groups, a minimum of 3 hunters per group with a maximum of 6 in both areas.
License Fees:
License fees are payable 30 days prior to your safari and are not refundable should any trophies not be taken. A hunting license is also required by all clients at a cost of $300/per client/per safari.
Packages:
Packages are payable in full 30 days prior to commencement of safaris. As they are sold at a discounted rate, in the unlikely event of the package trophies not being taken, no portion of the package is/will be refundable.
Export of Trophies:
A basic fee of $300 per hunter will be charged for Trophy Exporting Documentation. See Trophy Export Fees.
Deposits:
A 50% deposit on the daily rate or 50% of the total cost of a hunting package is required to confirm the booking. The balance is payable 30 days prior to your safari.
Payment:
Outstanding amounts on daily rates are to be paid on the day of arrival. Daily rates are charged per night spent in camp. Trophy fees are to be paid on the last day in camp. All payments are to be made in cash, certified bank draft or traveler's check. We do not accept personal checks for any of our Mozambican Safaris, as they can take over a month to be cleared.
Gratuities:
While settling your bill for your safari with credit cards, certified bank draft and travelers checks is not a problem, the tipping of trackers, camp staff and PH's must always be done in US$ / Euro cash, as staff are often unable to exchange checks. Check with your PH what the norm is on tipping and at all times keep in mind a tip is a bonus greatly appreciated, but not expected.
Cancellation Policy:
In the event of a cancellation, a deposit is liable to forfeiture if we are unable to contract another safari to replace your booking or the dates cannot be rescheduled to another period in the same season or the following season.
