BIG 5 HUNTS Click here for Mozambique Details John X Safaris is now offering a limited number of "Big 5" Hunts in Mozambique. The area we hunt is operated by one of Mozambique's long time operators. The area known as "Coutada 11" is an official Safari Concession covering over 2,000 kilometers of some of the most diverse habitat and animal species. The area is part of the famed Marrameu complex and borders the Zambezi River in the North and the Buffalo Reserve in the East. The spectrum of wildlife is remarkable with twenty different species to hunt from the tiny Livingstone's Suni to Elephant. Buffalo roam the open flood plains and swamp in herds of several hundred. The Concession has three main types of habitat: Sandy Forest, Tropical Savannah and Swamps. Two camps are situated in the concession. The first is a typical East African Safari Style Tented Camp with bathrooms en-suite. The second camp was originally used by Portuguese Hunters in the 1960's and has recently been renovated. Hunters need to fly into Beira International Airport, Mozambique. From there it is a short Charter Flight to one of the most pristine hunting concessions remaining in Southern Africa.
