“If we were to succeed in educating and influencing our local communities in the value of sustainable hunting, we will need to start by giving. Only then will the true value of hunting be realized. ” - Author unknown.
The John X Foundation has a rich history of involving hunters in our local communities. Since that first SCI Blue Bag, many hunters have subsequently joined in the Blue Bag program. Many have brought blue bags stuffed to the point of bursting; some have simply filled extra space in their luggage, while others find it easier to donate cash, which the foundation intern uses to purchase items on their behalf. 100% of all donations go directly to targeted projects.
The number and amount of donations continues to grow substantially each year. Through targeted coordinated donations the John X Foundation can focus on bigger projects that impact many more than ever before.
The Foundation accepts gifts of all types and sizes. Past donations have included everything from school supplies, tooth brushes, water bottles, blankets, toys, building/construction supplies, cash, and much, much more.
Many of our past donors have enjoyed the privilege of delivering their gifts in person. There is simply nothing more rewarding than seeing a child’s eyes or a teacher’s face light up when you personally handover your contribution/s. Time permitting, we will make arrangements so that you can personally go onsite to touch the lives of those you are helping. We highly recommend this as one of the most rewarding parts of your safari experience.

What People Are Saying
"It was fantastic to return to the Dark Continent in 2014 by way of John X Safaris in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Carl, Etresia, Greg, Bless and the entire JXS staff created a fantastic adventure for me. From the Waterbuck that was so large that I named him the "Battleship Texas" to my last and favourite stalk of the hunt on a beautiful Eastern Cape Kudu, my hunting experience was "First Cabin" in every respect."~ Craig Horan '14 from
"For years I have heard many stories describing Africa. They were all wrong. The descriptions of the country, the experience and the scenery fell far short of the actual experience. I was moved emotionally and spiritually with the pure beauty of the country and fell in love with the passion of the people. Although this was our first trip, it will in no way be our last."~ Mark Motley '14 from
"Our 1st Trip to John X Safaris and it will not be our last!"~ Randal Spence & Emily Belue '13 from
"I had a great experience and spent time with a professional, knowledgeable, and capable guide. I did not think a second safari was on the cards, but after being here with Juan MacDonald and the John X staff I will be back again.
The hunting was superb and the trophies excellent. Greg and Bless are the best team I have hunted with and I have hunted for over 60 years. The food and accommodations at John X Safaris were 5 star. Hope to return. Many thanks for a super great hunt.~ Buddy Schiro '15 from
"The opportunity to shoot in tough conditions was a perfect learning experience. Carl gave us the shooting and the trophies we were after. The Karoo was just like hunting the west, long shots in the wind were mandatory. The coast was like a different world. Chasing big animals in small clearings and big valleys made awesome TV! Thanks again I cannot wait to be back!"
