TRAVELING WITH RIFLES - MOZAMBIQUE

Firearm Imports/Exports

With regards to your safari in Mozambique - Traveling from your country of origin directly to Johannesburg, South Africa, you will more than likely need to overnight in Johannesburg on your day of arrival. The following day will see you catching the only daily flight from Johannesburg to Beira, Mozambique.

When entering South Africa with a firearm, you will need to apply for a Temporary Import/Export Permit. We strongly recommend using Air 2000 / Hunters Support to assist you through this process. Follow the link, for all documentation and requirements. By sending Air 2000/Hunters Support the required details, they will apply for the permit on your behalf; meet you at the airport and walking you through customs onto your connecting flight. Please note Air 2000 Hunters Support does charge a minimal fee for this service – be sure to double check rates with them at the time of the service.

To make this as hassle free process as possible, for the benefit of our clients, John X Safaris has installed links for both the required application forms.

SAP 520 Application for the temporary import/export of firearms to South Africa.

US Customs Form 4457 for proof of ownership of the rifle/s from the USA.

For additional questions regarding traveling to South Africa with rifles or for a safari review this resource.

"John X did it again! I never would have guessed my 2nd safari with John X would be able to be better
than my first. Carl did everything he could to make each hunting experience world-class. I cannot thank Carl and the staff enough. I am bringing my son on his first safari next June. Hopefully time will fly by! Until we meet again …"

"I wanted to express my deep appreciation to you and your staff for making my first African Safari a HUGE success! Your staff, the accommodations, food and hunts were first class! My PH, Louwrens Lombard, was fantastic and I enjoyed our time together. His experience and skill allowed me to take the trophies I desired. This was my first trip to South Africa, it will not be my last and I will one day soon visit old friends at John X again."

"I thought I was going on safari to ride an elephant and be able to cross that experience off my bucket list. Indeed, I can successfully cross it off! But with JXS, I experienced so much more that made my African adventure such a memorable one. The hospitality and friendliness of the team, made everyday truly a vacation. The sights and sounds of the wild, the animals, birds and game made the photo opportunities terrific. I came to ride an elephant, I left with memories, my first trophy and an unforgettable experience."

"If you have already been on a safari, you have come to know that it is more than the hunt … much more! On our 6th safari, we had the good fortune to share JXS with our 2 best friends who were on their 1st safari. And what a safari experience it turned out to be. Everything from riding elephants, to fishing, to hunting waterfowl. The highlight of our experience was being able to take a magnificent Blue Duiker from a ground blind. JXS slogan is “Going the Distance” … and they never cease to amaze us … creating a safari experience that is unmatched anywhere."
