The Party Safari in the East Cape….
September 2009 – Eastern Cape, South Africa
Nick and Lori Heiman joined us early September for their first hunt in South Africa. Professional Hunter, Gary Phillips, guided them on their hunt for a variety of Plains Game Species. The hunt started off from our Coastal Base Camp, with Nick bagging a great East Cape Kudu, while Lori was fortunate enough to take photos of the entire event on the very first day! The hunting party then headed north to our Eastern Mountainous Area for a few days in search of Gemsbuck, White Spingbuck, Black Springbuck,Common Springbuck and Blesbuck. Both, Nick and Lori, enjoyed the hunt in the north with a certain favorite being the ever impressive Gemsbuck and their day of culling. The party again headed south hoping to hunt Zebra, Impala and Caracal with hounds if the opportunity presented itself. The opportunities did, and Nick can be very proud of the quality of trophies he harvested on his first safari. The last few days were spent relaxing at Base Camp on Lalibela, enjoying the scenery, game drives for the Big 5, shopping trips to Port Elizabeth, trips for lunch down to the ocean in Port Alfred and tons of partying. All of us really enjoyed having the Heimans, and a certain report from the field tells me they’ll be back in the not too distant future, as Nick has a date with a group of Baboons that proved too smart on this safari!
