All our hunting vehicles and camps are set up with full first aid kits for minor field injuries. We do however recommend bringing along a general antibiotic and basic medication for headaches, colds, and flu and stomach ailments.
You may experience Pepper Ticks from time to time after good seasonal rains in the East Cape. While these ticks DO NOT carry Lime’s disease they may infect one with Tick Bite Fever. Tick Bite Fever can be treated with a general anti-biotic, with initial symptoms being similar to that of your regular flu/cold. These symptoms usually only start appearing +- 7 days after being bitten. Do bring along a tick repellant with DEET in it and make use of long-acting insect repellent for the long-lasting treatment of clothes.
Please ensure you have an extra pair of prescription glasses or sufficient contact lenses if required. Dark glasses are recommended for early mornings and late afternoons when the sun can be at a very uncomfortable height. Dark glasses also act as a form of eye protection when traveling on open vehicles.
We recommend bringing along a good sun block of at least SPF 30, as the African sun is something to take seriously.
If you have any doubts about medical issues, check with your local doctor or travel clinic. As neither may be fully conversant with the different African regions always use John X Safaris as a backup when it comes to our specific location on the African Continent. Bringing along extra prescription drugs is recommended if required.

Note that our areas in Zambia, Mozambique, Uganda, Cameroon, Congo, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Namibia and Botswana are all Malaria areas. All hunters must ensure the necessary preventative precautions are taken before your arrival. Please consult your local doctor regards Malaria medication.
No inoculations are required for travelers visiting Southern Africa, we do however advise travellers to ensure that their Tetanus shots are up to date.

No routine vaccinations are specifically required for travellers arriving in South Africa, although we recommend ensuring that your routine vaccinations, including tetanus, are up to date.
