The "Hanging Ceremony" of a Fantastic Giraffe Bull

4th Feb 2010

As part of attending the various safari shows in the US, I also have wonderful opportunities to reconnect with the great people who have become a part of the John X family. It has been a pleasure to visit with various clients—catching up on what’s currently happening in their lives, as well as reliving their safari moments. At the same time its a privilege visiting our clients trophy rooms.  It is a thrill to see the completed trophies and relive our moments together of  the successful hunts.  As you can see the memories and safari experience does not end on the last day of your safari … even for your PH!
While attending the SCI Chapter Show in Nebraska, I had the pleasure of helping Chris Petersen hang his fantastic giraffe bull in his home. This bull was taken on Chris’ second safari with  John X Safaris, and it has one great story behind it.
Chris and Martie invited family and their closest friends for the “hanging ceremony”. It gives me great satisfaction to see our John X Safaris hunters enjoying South Africa and sharing it with others.
Chris Petersen’s giraffe mount was a year and half in the making.  As you can see by the video below, it takes more than a couple guys to hang a trophy giraffe!  Yep, that’s me, the PH, up on the ladder helping to arrange the giraffe in his place of honor.

All who were there shall not forget the giraffe safari, or the toast made when sharing the experience with all gathered …

Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is the present… which is why share it as a gift with all gathered.
