A Family Affair…..
Our season continues in style, with the completion of our first Italian/Spanish safari. We welcomed back Javier Iginuez with good friends the Foroni family.
Our hunt was to start in the south, from our Coastal Area, and then later head up to the mountains for some Grey Wing Partridge over English Pointer from our Eastern Mountainous Area. Professional Hunters, Gary Phillips and Carl van Zijl, guided the family on what was to be a first African Safari for the kids.
Giovanni and Paulina, dad and mom, split their time between hunting with Valentina and Alessandro. Javier having hunted with Alessandro on previous occasions, spent most of his time hunting with him while lending a hand where ever needed. It was great having Javier along on the hunt as it’s not everyday that one has one of the longest standing guides from Europe help out on a daily basis.
We soon discovered that Alessandro was actually nicknamed “Kiri” only to be re-nicknamed “Happy Trigger”, this for obvious reasons! “Kiri” not only posed some of the finest shooting skills ever seen from grown men let alone a 12-year-old, he also proved to be one of the finest hunters I’ve ever met. Not once did he shy away from a mountain or ravine, no hardship could surpass his enjoyment of the hunt and his desire to collect a certain trophy. Valentina joined the action too and did extremely well for somebody who previously had only fired 3 shots from a rifle.
We enjoyed a fun safari with the Foroni Family and feel privileged to have had them hunt with John X Safaris. Join in on our family album and see what all we got up to over the course of the past 10 days….
Smiles all round! A very excited team with an old Blue Wildebeest bull, the largest trophy Valentina hunted while on safari.
This Kudu gave us the run around all morning. Finally after crossing two ridges to get into position and ahead of the Kudu, we got lucky. A hunt of a lifetime! What made it even better was that “Kiri’s” father, Giovanni, could view the whole hunt from a distance and share in the joy with his son.
The view from where “Kiri” shot his Kudu. Notice how small the brown truck is in the distance. What a job we had to get his bull down!
One of “Kiri’s”most wanted trophies he was after was a Steenbuck. He got a good ram after some fancy shooting. Well done my friend!
On the last day of our Safari, the Foroni Family asked to do something a bit different. So we decided to take them Elephant riding. We had a blast!
Giovanni, Paulina, “Happy Trigger” and Valentina – Muchos Gracias! We look forward to having you back next Easter.
TO ALL OUR SPANISH FRIENDS – GOOD LUCK WITH THE FIFA SOCCER WORLD CUP FINAL TOMORROW! VIVA SPANJE!!
