Thank You For Your American Hospitality

7th Feb 2011

January 2011 has come and gone. It feels like yesterday that we boarded the South African Airways flight to Washington to start our annual month of marketing in the USA.
The Dallas Safari Club Show was our first stop on our trip. The Show has certainly become one of our favourites. We would like to thank all who are involved at The Dallas Safari Club, every year seems to be getting better and better. We were certainly made to feel at home at your show. A special word of appreciation to Mark Goodwin and our old friend, Johnny Posey, your hospitality was as good as always.

Jose flew up from Mexico and joined Carl for the Dallas Safari Club Show.

From Dallas we headed to Costa Rica for a week of fishing with friends from Africa. We booked our entire trip with “The Good Day Fishing Team”. Phillipe and his crew were first class and the fishing was truly an experience that will live on in our memories forever!

The Roosters broke our backs….

And stole the show!

While the Marlin, Sailfish and Rooster Fish were keeping us busy in Costa Rica, our team in Nebraska, lead by Steve and Jill Evers from Wildlife Creations Taxidermy, were being kept busy by enquiries at Safari Club Internationals Nebraska Chapter Show. They were extremely well supported by Chris Petersen who filled in for Carl in his absence.

Show time in Nebraska.

Having arrived back in the USA we travelled to Salt Lake City for a visit and get together with our friends in Eagle Mountain. Fun was had by all and it was great seeing the boys all getting ready for their next hunt! Thanks again to “Bwana” Big Jim and the Wright family for hosting me.
By some good fortune it seemed like we were missing the extreme cold weather where ever we were heading. That all came to a sudden halt the minute our plane touched down in Omaha, Nebraska. If it weren’t for the warm hospitality from our hosts, Chris and Martie Petersen, then I’m sure Omaha would have been one of the coldest places on the planet. Chris and Steve arranged some great meet and greet evenings where Carl had the opportunity to visit with folks who didn’t get to see him at the show.

From Omaha we set off for Reno, Nevada, for Safari Club Internationals main convention. SCI is always a great show for us and this year proved to be the same. Many old clients and friends stopped by our John X Safaris booth to visit and book their next African hunt. Dave Harwood, Brett Nelson, The Robinson and Adams families, and the guys from Washington always make Reno a great trip. It was once again a privilege and honour seeing our first ever American client, Fred Slater, who hunted with us for the first time 30 years ago. We’ll be seeing you in Vegas next year Fredo!
To everyone who visited us at the shows or during the numerous get-togethers’, thanks for stopping by and making the time. We enjoyed your company and camaraderie that only hunters can share. A special word of appreciation to the American people, you can be commended on some of the finest hospitality ever experienced on any of our trips abroad.
Those of you who have already secured your hunt for Season 2011, 2012 or 2013 – Thank you for your continued support. If you’re still searching for your next African adventure, look no further. We’ve got the areas, game and experience to ensure you experience the hunt of a lifetime.

The John X Safaris Team looks forward to sharing another great season with you….
