This may be hard to believe……
Over the course of the past 4 years the East Cape has been caught in one of the worst droughts in living memory.
With the fantastic rain we’ve had of late one could consider the drought as a thing of the past.
The skies opened two weeks ago and things have changed in a big way! This week saw my grandfather, the granddad of John X Safaris, join us for a week of fun.
No trip to visit the Grandchildren would be complete without being dragged off to check the Bushpig feed sites.
We arrived at our first sight, which was a dried up river bed two weeks ago…..
We were shocked! What was once our bait site with a pop up blind and trail camera, had now turned into a lake!
I made a swim for it, recovered our gear and took the plunge for the trail camera that was 3 feet under the water.
We weren’t sure if we’d be able to save any pictures at all. The camera had been water-logged for over a week.
Tomorrow we’ll be moving the bait site onto dry land. Who knows who the lucky hunter might be? It may be this year or next season, or never… That’s hunting. At least we know there’s a monster out there.
One things is for certain – You’ll be the first to know!
