A memorable return after 13 years…
My adventures began with Rick and Sue van Zyl in March of 2000, where I was introduced to South African hunting for the first time. The staff and accommodations at that time were of 5 star quality – unmatched to any other hunting adventure. During my trip in 2000 I was able to take several silver and bronze medal animals in some of the most beautiful areas. I vowed to myself that one day I would return to this wonderful county, but what I did not realize was that it would take 13 years to make it happen again.
On March 20th 2014, my adventure back to John X Safaris would finally begin. During my absence from John X Safaris the Van Zyl family had made some wonderful changes to their staff and the operations of the outfit. Rick and Sue had passed the business onto their son, Carl and his wonderful wife, Trish.
My trip began on the right foot when Carl assigned, professional hunter, Greg Hayes to guide me on my safari. Greg and I spent many hours and days tracking down quality game, with my “patient” Warthog, huge Lechwe, Copper Springbuck, and Cape Bushbuck being some of my favorite.
My adventure, the accommodations and the staff that run John X Safaris today proved to be even better than my previous trip, which I would not have thought possible! Carl and Trish have taken John X Safaris to a new level of excellence and customer satisfaction that makes them the best outfitter in all of South Africa. I am already planning another return trip!
