Beyond my Imagination…
I could never have imagined what an experience I was going to have when I first booked my trip to the Eastern Cape of South Africa 2 years ago. My intent was to bring my wife and enjoy spending some valuable time with her and a few friends while hunting and visiting a part of the world that I had never been to, or even thought I would travel to. Unfortunately, my sweet wife and love of my life was unable to attend, but what I experienced, I cannot wait to share with her on the next trip.
My best friend Jarod “Princess” Wallace ended up being my travel companion, and we not only became better friends, but we created a lifelong friendship with some amazing people from Utah. I appreciate all in our group for making my experience fun and enjoyable.
Upon my arrival to Africa, I was fortunate enough to travel to our destination with my “PH” Louwrens. Within the first hour of our travel, we connected and both felt that this was going to be the start of a good friendship for years to come.
The beauty of Lalibela was something that I could not have imagined in my dreams, but there I was in the midst of beautiful country and wild animals all around. I still cannot believe the abundance and variety of animals that encompassed our living area. The accommodations, staff, and guides, were some of the best around. I was treated with the utmost respect and care for my safety that I could not have asked for any better. I take my hat off to these professional hunters for their dedication in finding the best animals and even sitting in the rain for hours, hoping for a Bushbuck to feed into sight before disappearing back into the thick brush.
My first animal that I had the privilege of taking was the mighty Zebra. What a magnificent and wild animal that I will never forget harvesting with my win. 300 short mag. My other animals included the Impala, Blesbuck, Blue Wildebeest, Bushbuck, Kudu, and a number that I let walk for the next visit. To my new friends Carl and Trish – Thank you for making my stay at John X Safaris such a wonderful experience. You are both wonderful individuals, and I wish you and your family the very best that life has to offer.
I additionally appreciate the opportunity to contribute and support financially to the betterment of the local school, and trying to make a difference in the lives of those beautiful children. I am so humbled and yet grateful for what I have, and will never take for granted the life I have here in the States.
I look forward to seeing you all again, and creating new memories.
