The Verlander’s were back again…..

29th Aug 2013

Over the course of the past four years we have come to know Mike and Sylvia Verlander through our good friends, Mark and Glen Haldane.

At first either, Mark or Glen, would join the Verlander’s down in the East Cape, but as time went on, with Mike and Carl hitting it off from the moment they met, the Verlander’s made their East Cape hunt an annual affair.
This year proved to be somewhat different from before, with Mike and Sylvia inviting most of the family and a bunch of friends, with Carl and his team together with Mark Haldane and his son, Dustin, running the hunt for what proved to be an amazing safari.
From the moment the Verlander’s arrived we knew it was going to be one great adventure. In hindsight we can be grateful that Jane Symes and Jo Vermaak, from Video Africa, joined us on the hunt, capturing every crazy moment along the way!
From world-class trophies to epic hunts, long-range shots and close calls, to fun-filled evenings around camp surviving a couple of Mamba bites from the local moonshiners while enjoying the melody of a live country song. Playing pranks became a daily habit for naughty teenagers, while seeing them take their beatings like men, made it all the worth while.

There were many highlights, some slipping the camera, but most captured on film, only to be played another day.
Mike and Sylvia, John, Zack, Allan, and Matthew, thanks for all the memories – We cant’s wait to do it again!
