Our Foundation Soars – The Carlisle Bridge Farm School

Resized Foundation 2

This year would mark the beginning of something much greater than we had ever envisaged. 2018 was the year that took our John X Foundation to new heights through uncharted waters. As a team we have always carried aspirations of bigger projects each year, hoping to make a significant difference in our local community.

With the identification of the Carlisle Bridge Farm School as our most recent initiative, we set to work sharing our plans and dreams for the future with many of our hunters during the course of the season. Within minutes of arriving at the school one could see the impact the dire situation of the school had on the many visiting the school. They too, now understood why we chose to support the little country school on the banks of the Great Fish River.

The support from our hunters provided funding for stationary and sporting equipment, as well as a new well for drinking water. The existing well had not been in working order since the late 1960’s, with scholars collecting water from the river each day. A comprehensive solar plant was installed to provide electricity and access to a computer was made available to the scholars for the very first time in the school’s history. A total revamp of the grounds with painting and infrastructure upgrades saw a new sense of pride engulf the entire school.

The day when the lights went on things changed for the kids of our community. Words cannot describe the appreciation and gratitude towards the amazing people who chose to support our foundation during 2018. Thank you is the least we can say, yet it will never be enough…..

Looking towards the future we have once again committed to the school for 2019. Our plans entail a continued fundraising initiative to support the school with daily running supplies and further infrastructure development. A special focus will be placed on technology and getting the learners internet literate. With this drive we kindly request any interested parties to donate any old Ipad’s for this drive. Together with the teachers the idea is to create an internet zone whereby the learners can further expand their learning experience not only via the internet, but with the help of technology. A skill we often take for granted.

School visits and meat drops will continue once again, with interested hunters/non-hunters on safari enjoying the privilege of experiencing the work on the ground. You can quite literally get your hands dirty in assisting with daily school activities. Our meat drop initiative will take on a further dimension, whereby interested hunters can join our initiative of not only supplying much-needed protein, but internet access too. Management Impala female/s will be made available at a discounted rate of $100 / Per Impala. Head out while on safari and experience the harvest of a management Impala for the school. From there we invite you to do your very own meat drop at the school. The Impala will take care of the protein supply while the $100 on your bill will be donated by John X Safaris to the school to ensure the internet costs are covered during the course of the year.

If you’d like to get involved with our John X Foundation Initiative for 2019 then please do notify us prior to your upcoming safari, or even while out on safari. We hope you will once again join us in our efforts. The impact of your contribution/s, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in the lives of many less privileged.
