2018 & Beyond – The season that has been…

At the beginning of our season I called in the team and asked them to do one thing, and one thing only. “Hunt for the experience, hunt for the love of the great outdoors and hunt for yourself.”

Looking back on the season that has been, I find myself quietly grinning with satisfaction. Reliving many of your hunts through the fantastic images captured on safari and reading the various comments of your experiences gives me a sense of pride which I am unable to put into words. My team took the message to heart and took you on safari like no other.

You hunted hard and you experienced the magic of Africa. Witnessing the awe on the faces of first timers as they saw the herds for the very first time and tasted the dust from a long day in the sun, having watched in anticipation as they settled onto the sticks to realize a dream of hunting Africa. Visiting around a campfire with old friends returning once again to a place they call home, while enjoying their success and sharing in their satisfaction after the familiar smell of burnt gun powder had settled, gave one perspective on a life well lived.

There was a story for each of you on your safari. It’s a story about your hunt. About the people you met, the places you visited and the adventure you embarked on. It’s about the personal journey worth sharing and telling.

As a dear friend recently reminded me while on the track of a Cape Buffalo; “Your life is your story. Write well. Edit often.” I challenge you to head out and hunt for yourself. Hunt for the love of hunting. And hunt for the experience. The rest, as we bore witness to during 2018, will take care of itself.

If you joined us on safari in the past or plan to do so in the future, take the time to look back at the experiences, either via your personal photos or updates on our monthly blogs. Enjoy the stories. You and your adventures do more for our wildlife, our people and John X Safaris than you’d ever imagine. Thank you for your unwavering support as we continue with our quest to sustainably grow to provide the greatest safari experience on the African continent.

May this festive season be a blessed one and 2019 bring many adventures in the great outdoors. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

See you in the US during January or even better in Africa!

Yours in hunting,

Carl & The John X Team
