The Lone Star Outdoor Show Live from Africa, Season 3…

1st Aug 2019
John X Safaris

This season saw the return of Cable Smith and his Lone Star Outdoor Show once again to the East Cape. Over the past two season we have enjoyed getting to know Cable and a number of his friends and show followers. What has become synonymous with Cable and his groups is the amount of fun these guys embark on each year. Having them in camp never allows for a dull moment while the Skinners and Professional Hunters are kept pretty busy throughout too. They hunt hard, play even harder, and make it the hardest to say goodbye at the end of our action-packed week of adventures.

Hunting from both our southern and northern concessions the guys pursued a number of plains game species with rifle and bow. While we have become accustom to world-class results from our rifle hunters, it was the bow hunters who surprised us the most on this recent hunt. Having the option of blinds, but preferring to take on everything on foot without the assistance of blinds, proved to be some of the most impressive hunting from the week. A number of the rifle hunters walked away with a full house on shots taken successfully without a single miss on the entire hunt. A very impressive stat which all can be proud of.

At the end of each safari we make the effort to engage with every hunter asking them to give a short reflection on their experience with John X Safaris. It’s important for us to keep our finger on the pulse and extremely important to you as you start planning your next hunt. We dully asked the group to share their reflections with you. We hope they will be of assistance as you look towards a future adventure…

“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with John X Safaris.  The fine people at John X Safaris are genuinely caring and worked hard to ensure my safari was the very best it could be.  I literally had miles and mountains of adventures while hunting with John X Safaris.  My PH Louwrence was top notch and did everything possible to make my hunt an epic one. This was the greatest hunting adventure of my life!”  David Lane

“The memories etched in me of this first safari are to remain in my mind forever.  The service, experience and attention to detail that had been afforded to me by John X Safaris as a company is nothing short of world class.  I find myself wondering when I will return.  John X Safaris needs not to ask “if” I will return, but only ask “when”.  Thank you again for an experience second to none.” Arturo Villegas

“This was my first hunt in South Africa and I could not have asked for anything more.  The food, service, accommodations and hunting are second to none.  I want to say a special thanks to my PH, Ed, and Tracker, Ropsey, who went out of their way to ensure I experienced the East Cape in all her glory. I would also like to thank Carl and all at John X Safaris. You guys are first class in every way.”  Joseph Lemberg

“I don’t have the words to fully express how much I enjoyed my time with my PH, Dave, and tracker, Shoota.  They are an asset to your organisation and a pleasure to get to know.  Lee’s menu, preparation, and presentation of all meals was simply amazing.  Every staff member was courteous, always smiling and easy to talk to. Your desire to please and accommodate your hunters goes beyond anything I have experienced before. Thank you for a great first experience!” Jeff Roberts

“Another epic adventure in the books! I never thought last years safari could be topped, I was wrong. Spot and stalk hunting Africa with a bow proved to be a completely different, and even more memorable experience. I can’t wait to do it again!” Josh Delehanty

Cable Smith with John X Safaris in Africa

My 3rd safari with John X Safaris was every bit as excellent as the first two.  I can’t overstate how hard Carl and his cameraman Ozzy work to ensure that I have the best experience possible.  As you will bear witness in my video this is so much more than a hunting trip and that’s a testament to the mentality of the entire team at John X Safaris. Enjoy the memories and join me on safari. Cable Smith
