2019 & Beyond – The Season that has been…
It’s dry in Africa right now. While the rains have not arrived as we have hoped for, it still remains a wonderful time of the year with the promise of rain on the horizon and the life which comes with it. That promise is a small break from the constant challenge this land holds, very similar to the challenge we as hunters are facing on a more regular basis.
The anti-hunting fraternity are making inroads with each scathing attack. Gone are the days of sound scientific-based decisions. We are living in a time of emotion driven ideologies. Numerous anti-use proposals are being peddled to various heads of state daily enjoying the attention of the media’s spotlight.
In some instances, the battle has been lost for certain species but not without valuable lessons learnt. By being bullied into submission in the court of public opinion we have witnessed the dawn of a new era. No longer will we as hunters sit in silence too afraid of the personal scrutiny which may or may not threaten our existence. We are rising to the occasion and having our voices heard. The truth must be told.
In what we believe to be one of the most important pieces of our time; The Response, written by our good friend Paul Stones and compiled into video by Dallas Safari Club, Paul highlights the systematic demise of hunting as a conservation tool by the anti-hunting community which will ensure the absolute demise of African wildlife in the future.
This message heeds sound warning to the ill-informed about Africa, it’s wildlife and the importance of sustainable hunting. May we all take a stand to ensure this sad phenomenon will not become a reality. Each of you who joined us on safari this season played your role in securing the future of our wildlife. We thank and salute you for laying down your marker. Without you and your desire to hunt Africa we would not be able to protect and grow the areas we hold so dear.
Over this festive season take the time to reflect on the many wonderful experiences you embarked on in the outdoors during 2019. Celebrate your experiences, ultimately a small battle won against those who wish to discredit the efforts of hunters around the world. They have not done so in the past and we will not allow them to do so in the future. This is our heritage. Hunt hard, hunt well and hunt for the experience.
A Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year – See you in the US during January / February 2020.
Yours in hunting,
