Masters of Adventure | Cape Buffalo Hunting

For many, Dangerous Game Hunting remains the last frontier of those grand adventures from yesteryear. Hunting Cape Buffalo from our southern base, Woodlands Safari Estate, is arguably the finest Buffalo experience in the Eastern Cape. Combine that with our renowned plains game and you’re in for one memorable hunt.

Michael Gregory, together with his son’s, Jake and Speed, and Puren Joubert from Igala Productions joined us last June for a taste of what we refer to as The East Cape Experience.  Pursuing Cape Buffalo in large numbers with weary old bulls spread across 30 000 acres, the hunter will be left in agreement with Harry Tennison, as he eloquently described the relationship between hunting and Cape Buffalo; “You don’t get engaged to a Cape Buffalo, you get married to him – for life – his or yours. Not as fast as a Lion or as rapid as a Leopard, not as large as an Elephant, not as bad tempered as a Black Rhino, but committed to one thing – living”.

This father and his boys hunted hard and made the most of their opportunities, coming away with an experience shared that will be cherished for life. When all was said and done and the hunt had reached its final morning Michael slipped a note under my door.

Carl - Spectacular doesn't cover it.  The food was consistently excellent, and the service was over the top.  Every member of your team couldn't do enough for us.  The quality of the hunting was excellent, but the service and attention to detail made it the best lodge experience we've ever had.  You have a fantastic family business and the culture you have created is enviable.  Thanks so much for welcoming my family into the John X family and I look forward to many more hunts together over the years.

Michael Gregory

Michael – To you and your boys; Thank you for your kind note and the opportunity to host you on safari, it was a privilege sharing this hunt with you. You and your boys are the true “Masters of Adventure”.

Join them as we embarked on an open site journey with their original Westley Richards rifles and their extraordinary quest for Cape Buffalo. It’s a challenge not to be taken lightly, but one to revel in. It’s the ultimate hunt, with the ultimate foe.

Contact us today for more information on our hunts and feel free to mail Carl directly on hunting@johnxsafaris.co.za with your specific safari requests or quotes. We look forward to hearing from you and sharing a campfire in Africa.
