On Safari with Brian Matthews … Living the Dream | Part 1

First Hunt After Lock-Down ~ John X Safaris

If there was one thing we learnt from 2020 and the disastrous season we had to endure, then surely it was the sheer tenacity of our hunters not willing to give up on their quest of getting to Africa and hunting during 2020.

When our borders re-opened to International Travelers last November the phone started ringing off the hook and the messages started pouring in. Hunters were adjusting their schedules and finding ways to get to Africa. Some moved their postponed hunts up earlier into 2021 while others secured their flights for this season.

There was however one who would not take no for an answer. Brian Matthews booked his hunt during October 2019 and stuck with us through thick and thin. He explored numerous flight options during the course of last year and then once borders opened up he secured his flights.

He completed and successfully passed his Covid-19 Test within 72 hrs. prior to his departure from Arizona, USA, and arrived with us on December 6’th, 2020. The hunt itself proved to be a huge success with many wonderful experiences shared. It gave Brian all he had hoped for on his safari and afforded us the opportunity to experience travel under current conditions.

Brian proved there was hope in a hopeless year. The reality of his hunt under challenging travel conditions meant more to a small team in Africa than he’d ever realize. We are forever indebted to him. His safari shall be spoken about for many years to come. Enjoy his adventure with him…

We are happy to report that all went as planned with both Brian and his rifle arriving together on time in Africa, and once again without issue on his return home to the US. The system proved to be hassle free and with a simple negative PCR Covid-19 test result taken within 72 hours prior to departure OR the relevant documentation of recovery from your doctor/health practitioner if you have had Covid-19 in the past 3 months, we are confident that you too will experience the same scenario on your safari to Africa during 2021.

Contact us today for more information on our hunts and feel free to mail Carl directly on hunting@johnxsafaris.co.za with your specific safari requests or quotes. We look forward to hearing from you and sharing a campfire in Africa.
