Safari Report – The Gold Standard Safari | Boehmer & Batt

12th Aug 2021

We arrived as guests.  We experienced the phenomenal.  We departed as family.

The ‘Gold Standard Safari’ is to be found at John X Safaris.  John X Safaris is a superior outfit that gives complete attention to every detail.  Everyone is an expert at their craft.  Everyone was genuinely interested in getting to know us and each member of the team has such a rich and entertaining personal biography to share.

The East Cape was majestic and thrilled with a kaleidoscope of terrains. We roamed the game filled Karoo and traversed towering mountains.   We were in awe of the great herds of game scattered across the vast plains and left speechless gazing at the beautiful coast of the Indian Ocean from horseback.

From a single vantage point, it was common to see a dozen or more species of big game.  We saw the diminutive Steenbuck, the gigantic Cape Eland and a myriad of antelope of various sizes.  We saw Warthogs, Black-Backed Jackals and Caracal.  We watched the comical Vervet Monkeys and ‘criminal’ Baboons.  Giraffes gracefully decorated the landscape like portraits in a home.  We admired the wary and dangerous Cape Buffalo, the regal Sable and Roan Antelope and too many more species to list.

From Ed and Stix, our unbelievably skilled and tireless PH’s, to Carl, Trish and Lee, the Van Zyl family management team, to Ken and Ropsie our trackers, to Grant our videographer, to Brett, Gabi, and little Grant, Carl’s children, to Ross and Jessica, Lee’s children, to Pepper, Flash and Django our canine trackers.

To all of the John X Safaris family – we will miss you and think of you every day. However, rest assured we will see you soon again.

Hlala kahle, Siyabulela!

Gary Boehmer

We are happy to report that all went as planned on their return home to the US. The system proved to be hassle free and with a simple negative PCR Covid-19 test result taken within 72 hours prior to departure from the US/SA we are confident that you too will experience the same scenario on your safari to Africa during 2021.

Contact us today for more information on our hunts and feel free to mail Carl directly on johnxsafarishunts@gmail.com with your specific safari requests or quotes. We look forward to hearing from you and sharing a campfire in Africa.
