A Buffalo Adventure | Winner of Project 25

11th Jan 2023

Project 25 was the “brainchild” of a group of like-minded hunters who sat around a campfire in Africa dreaming about giving back to the conservation of the wild places they visited. The contributions towards their hunts and the people they met together with the wildlife they experienced saw them expressing a desire to be a part of something of substance. Something which their great-grandchildren could relate to on their adventures to Africa some twenty or thirty years down the line. It was then and there that the idea of their very own waterhole in Africa was realised.

Fast forward 12 months down the line in the grip of a crippling pandemic and the associated costs with getting a safari company through the turbulent years we decided to throw caution to the wind and literally go for it. With your support we built the waterholes, saw in a flood which broke a number of those newly built waterholes, only to rebuild them once again, finally coming out the other end with a lucky draw and the winner of our Cape Buffalo Hunt.

The winner of the hunt would be none other than Uncle Dennis Charleton, an old friend and loyal supporter to both John X Safaris and the John X Foundation. Making the call over Thanksgiving as to inform Uncle Dennis of the result of the live draw, he wouldn’t believe us proclaiming he had never won a single thing in his life, let alone an African Cape Buffalo Hunt!

The hunt proved to be a grand adventure as Uncle Dennis teamed up with his long standing friend and PH Ross “Stix” Hoole and Tracker MK. Of course Ozzy was along to work his magic from behind the camera, which we must confess was one of our highlights of the year. Enjoy Uncle Dennis’s adventure as he went after an old warrior of a Dagga Boy….

Contact us today for more information on our hunts and feel free to mail Carl directly on johnxsafarishunts@gmail.com with your specific safari requests or quotes. We look forward to hearing from you and sharing a campfire in Africa.
