Uncle Bob’s Borderless Expedition| John X Safaris in Mozambique
During late August ’22 our old friends Uncle Bob Phillips and Dave Wall joined us for one of our “Borderless Expeditions” to Mozambique. Over the years we have led a number of our returning hunters into the Zambezi Delta as they wished to explore a different region of Africa.
On this particular occasion Stix met up with Dave and Uncle Bob in Johannesburg before connecting onto Beira and finally catching a charter into the Delta where Ph’s Dylan Holmes and Bredger Thomason were waiting with their teams on the ground.
Landing on a small bush strip in the Delta sees an entire new world waken the senses. From the sand forests teaming with the ever elusive Livingstone’s Suni and Blue Duiker to the pans with their herds of Sable. The shy Chobe Bushbuck and Nyala carefully traverse the edges of the pans as not to wander too far from the shadows while the Red Duiker glow like embers in the night.
From the pans the Myombo Forest towers above your head as the flood plain opens to a maize of Lichtenstein Hartebeest, Zebra, Common Reedbuck, Livingstone Eland, Waterbuck, Oribi, bustling Warthog and the great herds of Cape Buffalo.
For Uncle Bob and Dave it would be a trip for the ages. An adventure not soon to be repeated and laced with sights and scenes that can only be found on the Dark Continent. Enjoy Uncle Bob’s adventure in the second of this two film series.
