A Cape in the Cape | Buffalo Hunting

John Grobe arrived as a hunter and left as a friend. That was three safaris ago. Today John is more like a family member, teaming up with his PH Clayton Fletcher annually for his “check-out” to Africa.

Africa is where John escapes to from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is where he slows down to reconnect with nature in its purest form. It’s where the sweat line on the cap grows a bit more each year as he and Clayton spend their days in pursuit of game throughout the myriad of biomes of the Eastern Cape.

This year, like the ones before, he was back for yet another adventure, but an adventure of a different nature as the guys headed out after Cape Buffalo. John chose the early season after a wet summer and boy were they spoilt for choice. Getting up high and experiencing the freedom that comes with the mountains is something quite impossible to describe to anyone who is not an altitude hunting enthusiast.
