2023 & Beyond | A wonderful year behind us | An exciting one ahead
As we come to the end of our season, celebrating our 40th year at John X Safaris, we are left astounded by the images displayed throughout this seasons year book. Reflecting back on the support we have enjoyed through your desire to join our teams on safari has afforded us the opportunity of doing what we love while sharing untold experiences with you out in the field.
Together we have travelled far and wide hunting across South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. We chased sunrises, dusty tracks, breath-taking sights and the most inspiring sunsets on earth. We crossed rivers, plains and mountains all in the name of adventure.
Judging by the quality of the game harvested I feel confident with the ongoing management of our areas as we continue on our quest of age-based hunting. For the first time in many years, we offered a large management quota in our efforts of hunting from the bottom up. This together with an ongoing wet cycle and the continued planned re-introduction of various species allows for a diverse genetic pool which will stand us in good stead going forward.
And while the management of our concessions and wildlife may be science based, the emotions stirred by browsing over your complimentary letters gives us as a team much satisfaction in our desire of providing an experience which is more than just a hunt. To share those exciting moments with you on safari is what connects us as hunters. From the youngest to the oldest we were privileged to be a part of your experience and look forward to when next we can share a campfire once again.
It goes without saying that our conservation module and the sustainability of our people depends on you. You have once again led the way through your unwavering support which has seen us not only achieve our goals, but so too continue our growth.
This season I am signing off from Bankfontein. You will notice the above image and setting of a scene from the Great Karoo. With Flash and myself pictured is my dad, Rick whom together with my mom, Sue, founded John X Safaris back in 1983. At the time they could not have imagined the journey hunting would provide our team and family.
Together with Woodlands Safari Estate in the south and our long-standing concessions of the Tribal Region in the east, we are proud to introduce you to our new northern base in the Great Karoo, Bankfontein. In combination we have arguably the very best of the East Cape and South African hunting, as we turn towards the next chapter strong in our desire to not only hunt, but in so doing to conserve our wildlife and these wonderful wild places.
Here’s to you and those faraway adventures you dare to embark on. A Merry Christmas and an Adventurous 2024 to you and yours.
