Everyone Deserves to Play | Blood Origins | John X Foundation

22nd October 2021

When we took on “Everyone Deserves to Play” we had no idea of where this journey would take us, or more importantly, the children of Carlisle Bridge. A vision without support will merely remain a dream until someone takes that first leap of faith. That leap came from you. It came from the hunting community and Robbie Kroger at Blood Origins who decided our story was worth telling.

It came from Randy Smith, John & Lynn Nowlin, David & Mary-Lynn West, Cary Renner, Steve & Haylee Travis, Jim & Chris Smith, Rose Collins and Richard & Lynah Guild who contributed towards the building of the facility. It came from Darrel Carver and Kirsten Hairston from Kuiu who ensured we could hire the best in Pierre Prins and Rory Allen to capture this story and for Sam Revera to produce it. It came from Juan Pretorius who kindly drew-up the original sketches and Okkie Pieterse who assisted with the development of the facility. It came from Douglas Cockcroft of Splitting Image Taxidermy who kindly donated the sports equipment and jerseys for the kids to not merely enjoy their new facility, but look the part too. Last but not least, my team, especially Rick van Zyl, Clayton Fletcher and Altus De Bod, who burnt the midnight oil with the men as we drove this project over the line with a deadline looming. None of this would have been possible without everyone’s support.

This project set out with a goal to provide a place to play, but it went beyond that. It offered a place to laugh, a place to dream, a place to smile. This is a story of the heart of the hunting community in a small community in rural Eastern Cape, but it reflects the heart of the hunting community around the world. Most importantly, we needed the world to see it. This is a story of giving back.

Blood Origins is a 501c3 US based non-profit that is fixated on a mission to convey the truth around hunting and hunters across the world. Their platform has steadily been changing the perception of hunting and hunters into the non-hunting community space and will continue to do it with your support. Please join us at  John X Safaris in supporting Blood Origins through a monthly donation https://bloodorigins.org/supporter-program/ or getting your company involved in their Conservation Club https://bloodorigins.org/conservation-club/ . Please consider supporting them.
